Details from Freewheeling Press Brendan T. Byrne State Forest The 34,000-acre Brendan T. Byrne State Forest is New Jersey's second-largest state forest, second only to Wharton in size, and it offers virtually unlimited opportunities for off-road exploration. This ride uses only a small portion of the trails and paved and dirt roads within this expansive forest. This ride follows parts of the paved bike route and cinder paths as well as dirt roads and several unpaved trails as it winds past cranberry bogs, a reservoir, and Lebanon Lake as well as the smaller Pakim Pond, whose name is derived from the Native American word for cranberry....
