Details from Freewheeling Press Mahlon Dickerson Reservation With over 3,000 acres, the Mahlon Dickerson Reservation seems more like a state forest than a county-run facility. Deer, beaver, and black bear are among the animals that reside in this heavily wooded reservation. Located in northwestern Morris County, it is generally regarded as the number-one mountain-bike destination within the Morris County Park System. In addition to the yellow trail, which is officially designated for bike use, the route described here uses several other trails, including the white-blazed Pine Swamp Trail, the green-blazed Boulder Trail, and the 2.5-mile Edison Branch Rail Trail, originally known as the Ogden Mine Railroad, built to serve iron mines in the area. Highlights of the ride include picturesque Saffin Pond and the highest elevation in Morris County (1,395 feet). ... To download the full description and map for the ride, just click "Pay Now."
