Details from The New York Times 9/11 Neediest Fund The New York Times 9/11 Neediest Fund The New York Times 9/11 Neediest Fund is established to collect contributions to relieve the suffering of families struck by the World Trade Center calamity, both civilians and rescue workers. Amazon.com is waiving its usual fees and the Times will cover all administrative costs, so every dollar contributed will go for relief. Funds will be distributed by seven social service agencies and three foundations representing the uniform services. The agencies have agreed unanimously that they will do so according to a single uniform standard: need. In the 20 days since the Fund was established, we have raised approximately $22 million, much of it from around the country. Contributions may also be mailed to The New York Times 9/11 Neediest Fund, P.O. Box 5193, General Post Office, New York, N. Y. 10087 or made by phone to (212) 556-5851.
